8. What veil fabrics are used?

Bridal Illusion:

Bridal Illusion Veil FabricOur standard veils, and the vast majority of veils on the market, are made from a fabric known in the industry as bridal illusion. This tulle is essentially a very fine polyester netting. Soft & sheer, bridal illusion exhibits a diamond-shaped weave.

Veils made from bridal illusion have slightly more body than those made from silk or English netting. Bridal illusion is available in white, diamond white, and ivory. We offer bridal illusion veils in each of these colors in 72", and 108" widths.

English Netting:

English Netting TulleThis tulle is made from cotton and features a hexagonal pattern weave. Veils made from English netting fall with a slightly heavier drape than those of bridal illusion. We offer some English netting veils.

Silk Tulle:

Silk Tulle FabricSilk tulle is exceptionally sheer and luxurious. Like English netting, silk tulle also features a hexagonal weave. Silk, however is more soft and fluid than either bridal illusion or English netting. Silk veils have been a hallmark of bridal elegance for centuries. We offer some Silk Tulle Veils.

9. What tulle colors do you offer?

Tulle Fabric ColorWhite:

White is true, stark white. Choose white tulle to match gowns that are not made from silk and that are labeled 'white' by the manufacturer.

Diamond White:

Diamond white was created to match the creamy white color of silk. Real silks, like real pearls, don't come in bright, stark white. Instead, silk white is a warmer, more complex color. Choose diamond white tulle to match silk gowns that are labeled 'white,' or any gowns labeled 'candlelight,' 'pearl,' 'natural,' or 'diamond white' by the manufacturer.

Ivory:

Ivory is much creamier than white or diamond white. Choose ivory tulle to mach gowns of any material labeled 'ivory' by the manufacturer.

11. How do I get wrinkles out of my veil?

Veils usually become wrinkled in transit. Happily, it's very easy to remove wrinkles from your veil. Simply hang your veil up for a day or two, and the wrinkles should fall right out on their own. If you have a few stubborn wrinkles, hang the veil in the bathroom (but not in the shower itself!) and take a hot, steamy shower. By the time you're done, your veil should be wrinkle-free. We do not recommend ironing your veil. Tulle is very delicate and may melt or burn.

12. How do I secure the veil?

Your veil will come on its own comb, Your stylist will be able to slip the veil right into place, especially if you're wearing your hair in any sort of up-do or have your hair half-up. The teeth of the comb should point toward the back of your head. If you're wearing your hair down, or if you have short hair, your stylist may use one of the following simple tricks to keep your veil solidly in place.

Small Pony Tail:

Take a small section of hair (about the width of a pencil) where you'd like to anchor your veil. Use a small clear hair band (available at any drug store) to create a tiny pony tail at that spot. Be sure the pony tail is tight! You can even make two small pony tails for extra security. Then simply slip the teeth of the veil's comb under the pony tail, and your veil should stay put all night, no matter how much you dance. Irish step dancers use this technique to keep their curly wigs in place for competitions and shows.

Pin Curl:

Take a small section of hair (about the width of a pencil) where you'd like to anchor the veil. Wind the section of hair around your finger until you have a coil of hair snug against your head. Secure the pin curl flat to your head by using two bobby pins crisscrossed in an X shape over the curl. Then slip the teeth of the veil's comb under the pin curl, and you're ready to go! Vegas showgirls use this technique to keep their huge headpieces on during stage shows.

13. I have short hair... Can I wear a veil or tiara?

Absolutely! Veils work with all lengths of hair, from the shortest pixie cut to the most luxuriously long locks. Our veils come attached to combs that can grip even the finest, shortest hair. See "How do I secure the veil?" for more information on keeping the veil in place with any hairstyle. Tiaras, combs, and headbands all work gorgeously with short hair.

14. What's the difference in veils widths 72 inch and 108 inch?

As veil width increases, so does 'poofiness' and opacity (in other words, it's more gathered and harder to see through).

There are seven main veil lengths available at Claireveils.com: Shoulder, Elbow, Petite Fingertip, Fingertip, Waltz, Chapel and Cathedral.

Bridal Veil Lenghths by Claireveils.com

Veil length is usually chosen by the formality of your wedding and how it fits with the decoration on the back of your gown. Our guidelines for veil length may help you, but remember, they are only guidelines - this is your wedding and you should have the veil of your dreams!

  • Blusher/Shoulder Length is usually combined with other lengths and is used for both formal and semi-formal weddings.
  • Elbow Length is used for short (no train) gowns, and shows off any detailing at the waist of the gown.
  • Fingertip Length is used for formal and semi-formal weddings.
  • Chapel Length falls to the floor and is usually combined with other shorter layers.
  • Cathedral Length is used for formal weddings when the gown has a cathedral length train, the veil will extend one foot or more onto the floor.

Remember, your bridal veil should celebrate your individual style, and make you look and feel beautiful. It's your wedding!
